Pre-Trip Planning

Since we have not been to Alaska before, we decided that this trip should cover the basics of Alaska. This includes seeing Denali National Park, some museums in Fairbanks and Anchorage, a cruise to see Glaciers and water life in the Gulf of Alaska, and other recommended touristy places.

To determine where to stop at, we consulted a variety of literature.

Because time is short for the trip (only 6 weeks) we decided to not visit too many places along the way in Canada (ex: Banff and Jasper National Parks in Canada). We also had to eliminate many places in Alaska (ex: Skagway, Haines, Valdez, Homer, more remote camping places, dipping toes in the Artic Ocean, etc.) We can check out all those places on future trips.

We reserve the right to not follow this itinerary at any time. Only the reservations in Alaska have been made prior to leaving on the trip. Even those may be subject to change.

Contact will be limited while we are on the road. The cell phone probably won't work much of the way, and we know that we will not have internet access at many of the stops either.
